The Fruitcake Special- The Character I Dislike

The character I hate the most is Mr Amos... He is a bad guy ever I have found... Actually I read... He is an arrogant guy and snobbish person... He always look down to a person that has a lower standard than him... I hate him!!.. I also dont like Mr Amos because he is a man who was not faithful.. ~Asyikin (D)

The Fruitcake Special- The M0ral Values

I have read a short stories which the title is The Fruitcake Special by Frank Brennam. I have learned a lot of moral values from this story. The first moral value is true love. True love is born from the heart. Physical attraction is superficial and can even be dangerous. It is inner beauty that one should recognise and not outer beauty. For example, Anna meet her true love who is Armstrong, the Pizza delivery boy not the waiter and David Amos which is false love towards her that under the spell of the fruitcake perfume. Armstrong, through effort and determination, grows from a mere pizza delivery man to become the owner of the pizza company. He wants to make success of himself before he declares his love for Anna. This is what we call a true love. ~ Aida (C)

The Fruitcake Special- The Character I Like

I have read a short stories with the title is The Fruit Cake Special by Frank Bernnam. This short stories have many character I like. The most character I like is Anna. Anna works as a chemist in the Amos Cosmetics factory in New Jersey. Her job is to design new perfumes. Anna is single and lives with her mother. The reason why I like Anna because she is very aware of what goes on around her. Example, she knows that David Amos is not possibly in love with her nor is the waiter in the restaurant. Besides, she is quite a discerning character. Example, she quite a discerning as the result of the powerful perfume she had created. My ambition is want to be chemist like Anna can consolidate my reason why I like this character. ~ Amirah (B)

The Fruitcake Special- Theme

The story shows that one must be able to differentiate between what is superficial love and what is the true love. Superficial love may look attractive, with lots of fun and entertainment but it does not have value or depth as seen in the characters David Amos and Sabina. True love, however, takes time to grow but it is ever-lasting as seen in the actions and triumph of Armstrong. This is the true ingredient, not the one found in the fruitcake. After all, the old lady had seven husbands and that could not have been true love. Anna, too, was patient enough to wait and she got something priceless at the end. ~Fatwa (A)
